My Personal Project

January 8, 2017 Personal, photography

2016 was an amazing year. It was busy, thanks to all of my amazing clients. I got to go back to Oregon and visit my family, which was the most amazing gift. It also had a lot of struggles. The year closed out with oil still down and the cattle market sour. For a family that depends on both the oil and ag industries, this made for a pretty tough time. These pressures to pay the bills, provide for our family and preserve our way of life on the farm have been very heavy lately and I was honestly a little down when I started stitching together my pictures of 2016. All that worry seemed to melt away though the first time I watched this video altogether. We are so blessed.I look at these pictures and I see hope, love, joy and a wonderful year. When we look back we won’t see the lows or the hard times, but we will see four shining smiles. We will see a series of little adventures and everyday joys. We will see a series of happy little adventures and common everyday moments that make life worthwhile. I can honestly say that this has simultaneously been one of the most difficult and one of the most rewarding projects of my life. I hope you enjoy this little peek at my 2016.

Miss Collins } Victoria Kansas Newborn Photographer

My heart is so full sharing this beautiful family’s session on my blog today. Miss Collins is absolutely perfect and she is so very loved. I made the switch last year to only offer in-home newborn photography and it has been the best decision ever. There is just something about those quiet moments when a family is still getting to know each other and falling more in love every minute that I really love to watch and photograph. Little things like the picture you will see a new daddy, holding his beautiful new baby girl, while his wife and the mother of his child watches on. Little moments like that are what mean the most to me. I could go on and on about this sweet newborn session but I am just going to stop and let you see for yourself. I hope you enjoy!

I also have to wish this beautiful family a very happy anniversary! Their wedding was just a year ago and if you didn’t get to view their pictures, I highly recommend you visit this blog post and see it. It was completely inspired and I still can’t believe it has been a year!

A Month of Photos

December 5, 2016 photography

I can’t believe we are in December! This fall has been an incredible blur of beautiful moments, photos, and I cannot wait to share it all with you soon. I don’t want to spoil any Christmas cards (and I know there are some incredible ones coming out) so I am only going to share a handful of images from the last couple months. I am truly blessed to have been so busy again this year and so very grateful for all my amazing clients. None of this would be possible without you.

A Country Maternity Portrait Session

“A Wee Bit of Heaven”

A wee bit of heaven,

drifted down from above,

A handful of happiness,

a heart full of love.

The mystery of life,

so sacred and  sweet.

The giver of joy,

so deep and complete.

Precious and priceless,

so loveable too.

The world’s sweetest miracle,

baby, is you.

~Helen Steiner Rice

I am so very excited for this sweet couple as they start their little family together. I am also very confident that I was never as tiny and cute as the beautiful Miss Kylee during any of my pregnancies.  It was so fun to mix up things in this super busy wedding and senior season with a sweet little maternity session at my favorite location. I hope you enjoy this glimpse of Kylee and Breiton’s session.

Two in a Million

June 6, 2016 photography, Wedding

In a world of losers, filled with wrong turns
Where so many bridges seemed destined to burn
The odds are so great, the chances so slim
To find the right her for just the right him

What some call love, can be lost overnight
You find there’s a tunnel at the end of the light
But here in your arms, the only surprise
Is the way love keeps growing as time passes by

We’re two in a million, exceptions to the rule
I followed my heart and love led me to you
It’s a gamble at best, so easy to loose
But the first time we kissed we both knew
We’re two in a million, two who found one love that’s true

Jennifer and Darin shared their first dance to Chris Ledoux’s Two in a Million. It fit their wedding perfectly. These two beautiful, kind and unique souls found each other and shared an incredibly beautiful wedding surrounded by their family and friends. It’s been such a joy to work with them as their family is truly what the day was all about.  Their wedding day was full of joyful, beautiful moments and that’s my favorite part about weddings. It’s the tears of joy, hugs, happy smiles and all the love that makes a family.

I hope you enjoy this little view of Jennifer & Darin’s wedding day. I am currently booking weddings for late 2016 and 2017. Please email me at kelsey@stremelphotography.com for more information.
