I’d like to share with you an event that I attended this weekend. Jana’s Day of service was held on Sunday, March 6. Volunteers worked to wrap shoe boxes and fill them with birthday supplies. These boxes will be donated to Kansas Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) who will then give them to families who may not have the means to provide a child with a birthday party. Attendees also had the opportunity to join in a letter writing or email campaign to encourage congress to provide efficient funding for women’s safety and to stop domestic violence, to pass out flyers around the city for various community organizations, and to remember and honor the life of Jana Mackey.
The big news around our house this week, is the annual Smoky Hill Pheasants Forever Banquet coming up this Saturday. We are in the middle of calving season and I am ready for a night off with good friends. I’m also really excited for this event because Stremel Photography is a Chapter Sponsor for the Smoky Hill Chapter of the Pheasants Forever! I’m a firm believer that it is important to give back to your community. It’s important to find an organization that shares your values and interests and then support it! Farming, hunting and conservation are all closely intertwined and all things that we value in our family. So, reaching out to support our local Pheasant’s Forever chapter was a natural choice for me when I thought about ways that Stremel Photography could be involved in our community.
